Work

Roger was a great mathematician, with a lifelong love of study and education.

After being awarded his PhD from the University of Cambridge, Roger took up an Assistant Lectureship at the University of Aberdeen. Following this, he was appointed a Lecturer at the University of Sydney, where he remained from 1968 until his retirement as a Senior Lecturer in 2005.

Curriculum Vitae

  • High School: Sydney Boys High, 1952 to 1956
  • Bachelor of Science, 1st class honours, University of Sydney,
  • Started engineering in 1957 then switched to a BSc in his 3rd year and stayed for the Honours year in Pure Mathematics in 1960
  • Master of Science, University of Sydney, 1961 to 1963. Roger also tutored in Pure Mathematics at this time.
  • Applied for and won a University of Sydney traveling scholarship. Took this up in September 1963 at the University of Cambridge.
  • PhD, University of Cambridge – 1964 and 1965.
  • Assistant Lectureship at University of Aberdeen from 1965 to 1968.
  • Then took up a lectureship at the University of Sydney commencing at the beginning of 3rd term, 1968.
  • He worked at the University, lecturing in Mathematics, until his retirement in 2005 at age 66.
